One summer, my husband and I visited our daughter and her husband living in Chicago. We went to Grant Park and I took many photos in the rose garden. I loved this yellow rose. It caught my eye with its soft layers of flowing petals. When I got home and started drawing the rose, I researched and found this rose in an online nursery. It is an heirloom rose named Morning Has Broken so I aptly named it as such.

The bird of paradise is my favorite flower. Since I planted a couple plants in my garden, I get my plenty of blooms for inspiration. For this watercolor I thought I would create a composition of two birds of paradise facing opposite directions. When completed, I thought... now here's my two tickets to paradise!

During my morning walks I love to photograph the blooms I see along the way. The orange colored prickly pear seems to be everywhere. The flowers look so soft and beautiful sitting on top of the prickly pads with all those spines. It looks like a desert dream

Sunflowers are one of my favorites. They're so bright and cheerful and always make me smile. I bought a bunch from the store and placed them in a vase. They looks so happy together that I thought I would paint them.
